Work Placement

Mid Coast Connect Assisting in further education and training for young people and parents and employers

What is work placement?

Work placement is an exciting opportunity for students to learn and develop valuable industry skills and knowledge. Students get to practice the skills they've learnt at school in a real workplace. They also get the chance to work with industry professionals and learn about future career pathways and employment opportunities.

Mid Coast Connect sources work placements from our supportive host employers and works with schools and TAFE to match students with appropriate work placement opportunities.

What are some of the benefits of work placement?

You may have no idea about what type of work you are interested in, or you might be leaning towards a particular industry but have no idea what working in that industry looks like. Either way, work placement provides students with great learning opportunities and benefits.

  • Develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude that relate to a range of employment, training, and educational settings
  • Learn about work ethics and what it takes to succeed in various industries
  • Understand teamwork and the meaning of responsibility when it comes to employment
  • Gain maturity and confidence through participation in a real work environment
  • Discover potential career pathways and have the ability to make informed decisions regarding one’s own career choices
  • Make connections and network with industry professionals that could translate to potential careers
