Expressions of Interest: Program Coordinator
Mid Coast Connect is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation facilitating programs throughout the Mid North Coast region from Woolgoolga to Bulahdelah. Programs aim to assist young people with their transition through school and into further education, training and employment. Current programs include Work Placement, School-based Trainee Mentoring, Links to Learning and School Leaver Support. Mid Coast Connect also provides Apprenticeship and Traineeship Services through our Group Training Organisation.
Mid Coast Connect is looking to expand our range of programs and service delivery. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from professionals who would like to work with us to make a difference in the lives of our local young people.
Mid Coast Connect is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals who can support the provision of career and transition programs for young people moving from school into training and/or employment.
It is essential that applicants clearly address the following selection criteria:
1) Demonstrate your ability to communicate and relate to young people and other key stakeholders (schools and local community)
2) Demonstrate your ability to deliver programs and work with young people to improve their education, employment and life outcomes
3) Demonstrate your ability to collaborate and work with regional stakeholders and explain your understanding of regional issues for young people
4) Demonstrate your ability to work with minimal supervision to set priorities and meet deadlines to achieve results
Essential requirements of the position:
Ability to relate well to young people and possess the necessary skills to work with young people at risk, with challenging behaviours and complex issues
Experience in working with young people, in group settings, in either the education, employment or youth sector
Current Working with Children clearance
Hold a current driver’s licence
Well-developed communication skills
Qualification in Education, Employment Services and/or Youth Work
Well-established local networks/ability to develop networks within local communities
Current First Aid and CPR certificate
ASCIA Anaphylaxis e-training
NSW DEC on-line child protection awareness training
NSW DEC on-line Disability Standards training
If the successful applicant does not hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate; and/or has not completed ASCIA Anaphylaxis e-training, NSW DEC on-line child protection awareness training, and NSW DEC on-line Disability Standards training, these must be completed before program delivery can commence.
Terms and Conditions
Positions may be based at any of our office locations and will require regular travel within the local area as well as occasional travel within the service region. Access to a pool vehicle is available for work-related travel.
Positions will be offered on a contract basis, 3 to 5 days per week; initially for 6 months. Ongoing employment will be subject to satisfactory performance in the position, contractual obligations, business demand and the availability of ongoing funding for the position.
Employment conditions will be as per the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2010.
A willingness to represent the organisation, further develop programs and contribute to team-based practices is expected. Flexibility is required, including attendance at relevant meetings, functions and events that may occur outside of normal business hours.
Please note that Child Protection Legislation requires preferred applicants to be subject to employment screening.
